Gavin Rossdale will do anything for his sons–including donning tights.
The former Bush singer and his wife, Gwen Stefani, are planning to take Kingston, 3, and Zuma, 1, to a Halloween party Thursday, and they will all dress up.
“Allegedly I’m going to be Buzz Lightyear,” Rossdale told me Tuesday. “My kids are dinosaurs, and I suppose the wife will come out with some great surprise that looks incredible, as usual–like every other day.”
Stefani and the kids chose his costume, Rossdale said. He’s worried that the get-up’s tights will look “a little pervy,” but he hasn’t tried them on yet to see.
“I’ve managed to restrain myself,” he said, laughing. “Somehow I found the power.”

Thanks to Andy from SFweekly.com:
“A good portion of the crowd had come to see the next band, No Doubt, which became clear after No Doubt left the stage and practically the entire place cleared out. Gwen Stefani looked stunning, as usual, her bleach blond hair shining like a beacon as she sang hit after hit and cat-walked around stage in an itty-bitty dress and six-inch heels (these must have been her acoustic set heels — we’re pretty sure that any attempt to skank dance in those things would have landed her in the hospital).
Only the die-hard Young fans stuck around for his set, the final act of the night. But they were rewarded with an impressive show by a performer who proved he can still rock in the free world like no other. Although Young veered away from the song everyone in the crowd was shouting out for him to play (”Old Man”), he has a big enough repertoire of hits to please nearly every fan out there. From “Daddy Went Walkin” to “Harvest Moon” to “Down by the River,” Young had fans out of their seats and stomping out the tunes in unison.
The odd mix-mash of stars who showed for the grand finale — Gwen Stefani in her stilettos on one end of the stage, Monsters of Folk in their beanies on the other, and Sandler giving high-fives to all of the Bridge School kids in between — was a little awkward looking, but it ultimately fulfilled its purpose of cracking smiles on the faces of fans who stuck around until the end.”

Neil Young took a risk this year. Rather than tapping the bankable legacy acts for his annual Bridge School benefit concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre, he skewed the bill a little younger, a little edgier and maybe even a little weirder.
It’s not often you see Jimmy Buffett sharing a stage with No Doubt, or Coldplay’s Chris Martin trying to get people to sing along to “Earth Angel.” While the change of direction didn’t exactly pay off in ticket sales – the 22,000-capacity venue was just a little more than half-full on Saturday (a second show, with even fewer tickets sold in advance, took place Sunday) – it definitely energized the 23rd annual fundraiser, which benefits the school for children with severe physical impairments.
Gwen Stefani and her recently reunited band were clearly the big draw and they soared. Welcomed onstage by Young, the Orange County group blew the largely mellow concert to life, as supple ska rhythms and bright horn blasts gave new life to old hits such as “Spiderwebs,” “Just a Girl” and “Simple Kind of Life.”
With her platinum blond hair blown out large and 10-inch heels on her feet, Stefani brought not only glamour to the proceedings, but a dose of humanity, spending as much time singing to the audience as the onstage bleacher section holding children from the school.

For their second performance No Doubt replaced Spiderwebs with Bathwater, the rest of the set remained unchanged.
No Doubt, and all the other performers, also joined Neil Young on stage boht nights to sing ‘Comes a Time.’

direct impact of Neil Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts is as plain as the joyful faces of the special-needs school’s students, many of whom watch each year from an onstage riser placed right behind the performers.
Those faces were often captured by the video cameras that were otherwise trained on the stars of this year’s shows, which got underway Saturday at Shoreline Amphitheatre just north of San Jose with unplugged sets by No Doubt, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Jimmy Buffett, Sheryl Crow, Monsters of Folk, Fleet Foxes, Wolfmother and Gavin Rossdale. Adam Sandler was scheduled to take over Buffett’s slot as the only change on Sunday’s lineup.
In a fairly understated way, Young and his wife, Pegi, the event’s co-organizer, have a school of their own going in this show, one that trains newcomers in service to a cause higher than merely entertaining fans, and how to go about it with class and humility.
“Thanks for being here,” Neil said when he finally took the Shoreline stage just before midnight on Saturday. His succinct statement applied as much to the other musicians as to the crowd, which appeared close to filling the 22,000-capacity amphitheater.
Young’s performance also tacitly addressed the dual focal points of the concert — he would turn his back to the crowd, wander back to the riser and play for the students, who include his son, Ben, who has cerebral palsy. Their faces would light up, and then he’d return to the front of the stage to do the same for the paying audience.
Others did the same to varying degrees throughout the evening. Gwen Stefani spent most of No Doubt’s first number behind Adrian Young’s drum kit singing to the children. The emotion caught up with her midway through their set — unplugged, as is the modus operandi for all Bridge School artists — in a performance of “Simple Kind of Life.”
“This is very emotional,” said Stefani, who choked up and had to grab a tissue when she finished. “These children and their parents are so inspiring.” Apparently big girls do cry.
